Eight Feet Still Wasn’t Enough: Boo! Haunted Halloween Market

Evergreen Layers at Boo! Haunted Halloween Market

Boo! Haunted Halloween Market — October 18, 2026

We had the biggest table we’ve ever worked with and still ran out of room. That’s either a problem or a good sign, and after ten hours at the Croatian Cultural Centre we’re fairly sure it’s the second one.

A Bigger Table, A Fuller Table

After a few weeks off, the Boo! Haunted Halloween Market was our first event back. It was also our first on an 8-foot table — the standard for this venue, but two feet more than the 6-footers we’re used to hauling our setup onto. Setup was quick and painless, and for once we spread out properly: our usual grid cubes, a dedicated cube for the Wiggly Pups and keychains, and a display shelf don’t always have room for.

The centrepiece of that shelf was a glow-in-the-dark section lit by a black light. Glow filament D20s and D12s with orange and green faces, spooky articulated slime horses, and a handful of other pieces that only really make sense under UV. At a Halloween market, it felt like exactly the right move.

What the Glow Section Taught Us

The black light did its job — people lit up when they got to the table and realized what they were looking at. Pure “whoa,” which is exactly what you want from a display piece at a Halloween market.

What it also gave us was a couple of good notes for next time. The glow dice are a premium piece, and on a day when people were browsing 80 booths and buying small, they were doing more work as a showpiece than as a sale — which is a perfectly good job for them. And the slime horses were up on the shelf at adult eye level, when the audience most likely to completely lose it over an articulated glowing horse is about four feet tall.

Next time, horses go low. Sometimes the fix is that simple, and we wouldn’t have spotted it without the shelf.

What Actually Sold

Clickers led the day, as they always do — though a big chunk came out of the clearance bin. This was our second event running it, and at $2 the decision is effortless for shoppers compared to our usual $5. Great for moving stock and clearing space, but it’s fair to say it took a bite out of full-price sales too. Something to think about before the holiday markets, when the clearance bin and the main table will be competing for the same hands.

Bookmarks continued their strong run, and our $3 Wiggly Minis were perfect for the day. With 80 vendors to get through, people were browsing wide and buying small — and at $3, a mini is an easy yes on the way past.

Costumes, Candy, and a Very Long Day

Two weeks out from Halloween and the costumes were already in full effect. Kids, a solid number of adults, and — best of all — dogs. Anyone not in a full costume had gone themed with their outfit instead. Plenty of vendors were handing out candy, which kept the energy high and the kids circulating all day.

Traffic stayed heavy from open to close, which meant fewer of the long conversations we usually enjoy, but we still spotted a good number of familiar faces in the crowd. Everyone was having a spooky good time, and that carries you a long way.

And it needed to. Doors were 10am to 6pm with two hours of setup beforehand — close to an eleven-hour day, and we felt every one of them afterward. Good neighbours made the difference: people to talk to between waves, and crucially, people willing to watch the booth for a bathroom break. Combined with how genuinely excited the guests were, the day went faster than the clock says it should have.

Still Waiting: The MEGA Clickers

We promised MEGA clickers for the holiday events, and we brought a few designs with us. What we couldn’t bring was more table. Even on 8 feet, there was nowhere to display a 200% scale panic button the way it deserves — so they stayed in the bin for one more market.

That changes at Heritage Hall. New layout, MEGAs out front, no excuses. They’re debuting at the next one.

Looking Ahead

Spooky season isn’t done with us yet. We’re at the Spooky Pop-up Market at Heritage Hall on October 31 and November 1, 11am to 5pm both days. Halloween day at a Halloween market — come in costume, we’ll be the booth with the black light.
