Back at Tears of Joy Hot Sauce Expo — August 8, 2026
Evergreen Layers headed out to Langley yesterday for the 2nd annual Tears of Joy Hot Sauce Expo, and it was a great day to be outside. The crowd was a little smaller than last year, but everyone who came was hyped — sunshine, live music, and the smell of hot food drifting through the whole venue made for exactly the kind of atmosphere you want at a summer expo.
What Caught People’s Eye
Here’s the fun part: our wiggly jalapeño peppers and hot sauce holders were a genuine draw this year, after getting almost no attention at the same event last year. Same products, same spot on the table, same layout — the only thing that changed was the crowd. Sometimes an audience just clicks with a piece, and it’s a good reminder that a product not landing once doesn’t mean it won’t land later.
Our new Wiggly Dogs collection also pulled people in, continuing the strong start they got at The Pipe Shop a couple of weeks ago. And as always, the fidgets were the conversation starter — people pick one up, start clicking, and the next thing you know we’re deep in a chat about how they’re printed.
Memorable Moments
We had a few faces come back from last year’s expo, which is always a great feeling at an annual event. The highlight was a young customer who’d bought one of our single clickers last year and came back specifically to level up to the three-clicker chocolate bar. Watching someone return a full year later because the thing they bought was still getting used? That’s the good stuff.
Good Neighbours
Big thanks to the vendors around us who kept the energy up all day: Five Roads Brewing, EVOO Foods, Eat My Dust, and DWCcrochet. A brewery, olive oils, spicy seasonings, and crochet is a wonderfully random stretch of the road, and they made it a fun one to be part of.
Looking Ahead
Next up we’re back at The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver this Friday, August 14, kicking off a four-week run to wrap up our summer season on the waterfront.
