Thank You, Paddlers! — Vessi 500 Championship Recap (May 31, 2025)

What a splash of a day—literally!

We rolled up at 7:30am to set up our cozy little tent for the Vessi 500 Championship Dragon Boat races, full of hope and dry socks. By 9:00am, it looked like the rain might stay away… but Mother Nature had other plans. Cue hours of non-stop rain that kept most folks indoors and us testing the limits of waterproofing until nearly 2:00pm.

Still, some absolute legends—aka paddlers—braved the weather and kept the energy high. We even had a bunch of excited kids ducking into our tent for a look at the shiny stuff and to give the Big Red Button fidget clicker a go (they got a lot of love).

And then—sunshine! The clouds parted, the crowds rolled in, and the rest of the day was a whirlwind of great conversations, familiar faces from past events, and lots of “oohs” and “whoas” at our sparkly dragon boats.

We packed down around 5:30pm as the last races wrapped up, officially calling it a wrap on our Dragon Boat season for 2025. We won’t be at the big June event, because we’re headed to The Vault Card Show—a brand-new Pokémon trading card show in Downtown Vancouver. Totally different vibe, same awesome energy.
